Last week, Microsoft showed off its new Windows 8 operating system, which will run on computers, laptops and tablets. In the latter case, there was something that provoked a lot of comment: Microsoft won’t be supporting Flash as a browser plug-in for its new OS, whose user interface is codenamed Metro. However, Adobe has published a blog post clarifying its side of this discussion. “We expect Flash based apps will come to Metro via Adobe AIR, much the way they are on Android, iOS and BlackBerry Tablet OS today, including the recent number one paid app for the iPad on the Apple App Store, Machinarium, which is built using Flash tools and deployed on the Web using Flash Player and through app stores as a standalone app.”
