If you’ve got AOL’s daily magazine-app Editions by AOL, you may notice some new features today. AOL has worked with Cooliris to use the latter’s AdJitsu 3D ads platform. It’s an iAd competitor, using 3D models and other rich features to make ads more interactive and interesting.
Cooliris is pitching the tech directly against Apple’s own ads platform by promising a smaller minimum buy, ‘true native speed’ rather than WebGL, and shorter production times. AOL seems happy: “With Editions, we want to make the ads as beautiful and interesting as the app itself,” says head of mobile David Temkin.
The press release deliberately doesn’t mention the first brands to take part, and we can’t get Editions here in the UK, so let us know if you spot them! We’re betting on it being cars.
