JPMorgan has published an analyst note suggesting that Amazon may sell five million of its new Kindle Fire Android tablets by the end of 2011.

The company has priced the device at $199 in the US, making it a cut-price competitor for Apple’s iPad, with Amazon’s content services (including music) tightly integrated.

The Fire goes on sale on 15 November, with Amazon having taken 95,000 pre-orders on the first day after it was announced earlier this year.

Five million units may pale next to iPad’s still-growing sales, but it will represent a significant boost to Amazon’s MP3 Store, especially if as expected, many buyers of the Kindle Fire aren’t your typical gadget early adopters.
