It’s a busy week for Yahoo: not content with launching its Livestand news app, it’s also relaunched the IntoNow social TV app that it acquired in April.
It’s an iPad app that gets people to check in to the TV shows that they’re watching, unlocking extra content and deals where there’s a partnership with the broadcaster and/or producer.
The app also sucks down content from Twitter and news sites based on what the user is watching: GigaOm explains that “If a user checks into a CNN program about politics, the IntoNow iPad app will begin to populate her feed with the latest political news from various online sources. If a user checks in to a particular football game, in addition to news and Tweets about the game, Yahoo’s stat tracker will be pulled up.”
It’s an interesting contrast to the (currently) UK-focused Zeebox app, which is in a similar space.
