UK-based online and mobile dating service Badoo is claiming to be the fourth largest social network in the world, having reached the milestone of 130 million members. The company has iPhone, Android and BlackBerry apps to complement its own website and Facebook application, with the apps using location-based features to help people hook up.

Badoo also says that 125,000 new users are signing up every day to its free service, and that it’s making $100 million a year from charging them to get promoted status and a more visible profile. “We are moving beyond the constraints of internet-based friendships and long distance relationships. Badoo enables users to meet people nearby in a fast and efficient manner,” says COO Bart Swanson, hinting at the importance of mobile to the company’s growth.
