Online video firm ChannelFlip has been working with various celebrities and filmmakers to make web shows, distributed via YouTube. Two of them – author and filmmaker Jon Ronson and comedian David Mitchell – have now got Android apps based on their shows.

Ronson’s is Escape and Control, which is subtitled ‘stories about people trying to control the Internet’. Mitchell’s is called David Mitchell’s Soapbox, and is more based around humorous rants about the issues of the week. An iOS version is already available.

Both apps are free, and enable fans to stream new episodes as soon as they’re made available online, while also downloading them for offline viewing. Sponsorship – from Trend Micro and Dell respectively – appears to be the business model.
