Analytics firm Distimo has released a report analysing Microsoft’s Windows Phone Marketplace, a year after its launch.
More than 30,000 apps are now available, with nearly 1,300 new paid apps being added every month, and 1,650 free apps. The report also offers download stats for the (aggregated) Top 300 apps in the US Marketplace, claiming that they generate 101,000 free downloads and 20,000 paid downloads a day.
“Here, the download volume of the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace is 39 times smaller relative to the download volume of the Apple App Store for iPhone in the top 300 most popular applications,” claims Distimo.
Other stats in the report: 700 new publishers are appearing on Windows Phone Marketplace every month, and nearly 50% of all apps are available in all the 17 launch countries for the store. One third of apps are available in all 35 markets now. The most popular category? Games.
