Two broadcasting groups have launched news apps for iOS this week. Discovery News is an iPhone app that promises more than 300 new stories and special features a month, incuding videos from the Discovery Channel’s team. There’s also a ‘Discovernator’ feature to throw up random facts.

National Geographic Today, on the other hand, is an iPad app that “brings you the best of National Geographic’s daily offerings—news, videos, quizzes, articles, and of course, the awe-inspiring photography we’re known for” along with features to share it on Twitter and Facebook. Both apps are free.
