Print supplements are a standard part of newspapers’ businesses, but now that’s transferring to the apps world too. The UK’s Daily Mirror has released Titanic 100, a £1.49 iPad app based on a print supplement of the same name. It draws on archive reports and photographs of the Titanic’s demise to commemorate its 100th anniversary this year.

“Featuring rare and unseen images from the magnificent Mirror archive, plus newspaper pages and reports from the time, it recalls how the ship believed to be unsinkable met with catastrophe,” explains the App Store listing. This isn’t the first such app for the Mirror: it released Royal Wedding – The Wills & Kate Story back in March 2011.

US iPad-only newspaper The Daily has also been launching spin-off apps: one for Elizabeth Taylor’s death, and most recently an Angry Birds Space guide.
