The latest app to be (hopefully) financed on the Kickstarter crowdfunding service is Steampunk Holmes: Legacy of the Nautilus. It’s the work of a group of developers and creatives from the US, Argentina and UK, who have already released their “mashup of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories and other classic 19th-century fiction set in a steampunk universe” as an e-book. The Kickstarter project aims to fund the development of iPad, web-app and illustrated print versions. The developers are promising an in-app catalogue of steampunk merchandise, which is an interesting e-commerce angle for a book-app. With eight days to go, they’ve raised just over $3.5k out of a $29k goal.
