Now that’s a phrase we hope we never have to type or hear again. It comes from author Charles Duhigg, talking at the Making Information Pay conference. According to Duhigg, book publishers need to take inspiration from games like Angry Birds in the way that a cue leads to a routine leads to a reward. “Not a lot of attention has been paid to the cue or to the reward,” said Duhigg, according to PaidContent. “Books are perfectly positioned to take advantage of things that are habit-forming… solving boredom is the number-two way to create habits”. And Duhigg compared The Atavist’s e-singles e-books to Angry Birds, as well as praising Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall for being a book that “surprises you constantly”.
