Anything social app startups can do, traditional mobile operators can do… better? We’ll see. Telefonica has launched an app called Tu Me, which is a pretty disruptive offering from a company of this type. It blends Voice-over-IP with text and audio messages, plus photo and location-sharing (or, if we were Silicon Valley types, ‘It’s Skype meets Path meets Highlight!’) The app is launching on iPhone first, with Android to come, and for now it’s free, although the carrier says it will “continue to be developed with added value functionality”.
