Mobile magazine store Zinio says it distributed more than 120m digital mags in the last year – a figure that includes issues bought individually or part of a subscription, but also free promotional issues. The company, which has apps available for various smartphones and tablets, also claims that 85% of people who subscribe to magazines through its service hadn’t previously subscribed to the print versions. It also notes that 95% of paying subscribers read a magazine every month, and says the most-read mags from the last year are National Geographic, Us, Maxim, Outdoor Photographer and Car and Driver.
