Kiip has been one of the more voluble startups in the mobile advertising space in recent months, focusing initially on ads for mobile games that tie ads to in-game achievements. Now the company has raised $11m of Series B funding to push on with its platform, which is currently being used by more than 400 games and apps. CEO Brian Wong is describing Kiip’s ads as “a rush of dopamine in the head”, criticising previous mobile ad formats as “an old technology, basically a billboard, that got smaller and smaller and more and more annoying”. Developers thinking of signing up will be looking for case studies on how Kiip’s model pays off though.
