Earbits co-founder Joey Flores has brainstormed what he thinks is the perfect digital music service. Features: a huge on-demand catalogue blended with Pandora’s recommendations algorithm; hundreds of thousands of curated playlists; features to listen with friends like Soundrop or Turntable.fm; location-based features; the ability for any band to submit music for consideration; and “sustainable pricing based on usage” – $10 for 500 on-demand plays or 1,000 radio-style plays, which rolls over month-to-month. “If 5% of Pandora’s 150 million registered users paid an average of $10 a month for this amazing service, and I believe far more would, you’re looking at $75M in revenue per month from memberships alone, with a 30% gross margin…”
