Beyond Oblivion isn’t quite dead yet. The company – or at least the new owners of its assets – has launched its Boinc music service as a private beta test for iPhone. We spotted the app go live on the App Store this weekend, with a one-line description: “boinc is all the music in the world”. Visit the Boinc website, and there’s also a button to ‘apply for a beta pass’, although at the time of writing ours hadn’t arrived. Beyond Oblivion planned to launch an ambitious subscription music service in 2011, but shut down before ever launching, before filing for bankruptcy. CEO Adam Kidron bought the assets, so this beta test is the first sign of Boinc’s (potential) rebirth.
