Developer Madfinger Games has attracted a fair amount of scepticism for its recent claim that it changed its Dead Trigger game on Android from paid to free in response to piracy. The sceptics see it as more of a PR stunt for a game that was always weighted towards in-app purchases as its main revenue stream. Even so, Madfinger has now changed the iOS version of its first-person shooter from paid to free too, matching Android, although the company has reined in the piracy rhetoric, saying only that “the number of pirates on iOS is comparable with the amount of jailbroken devices”.
