Hulu CEO Jason Kilar could be set to exit the company, as parent companies News Corp and Disney plan for the future of the streaming service.

Entertainment trade magazine Variety has obtained a confidential internal memo discussing the future of Hulu, which suggests that the two parent companies are planning to recruit a new CEO.

To complicate matters, however, Variety sources claim that this could actually be a contingency plan should Kilar himself decide to step down.

This is said to be possible in view of changes at one of Hulu’s owners, Providence Equity Partners, which would apparently allow Kilar to negotiate a significant compensation package.
