Music website Indie Shuffle now has an official iPhone app, promising that “music discovery just got a whole lot easier”.
How? The app taps into SoundCloud to create what it terms ‘smart playlists’ in various genres, prompting users to tap on a particular song to generate a playlist of similar stuff. Songs can be marked as favourites, compiled into playlists and shared to Facebook and Twitter.
The app is free and promises “absolutely no audio ads” – presumably non-audio ads will provide the business model, if there is one.
There is plenty of competition from existing music discovery apps on iPhone – most recently the impressive Shuffler.fm app – but Indie Shuffle looks like a contender.

Thanks for sharing, sir! Note that we have no plans to do display advertising at this time. Fully funded by the desktop site’s revenue
Thanks Jason, I’ll add that to the piece. Congrats on the app!
