Music technology firm Songbird has launched its Songbird.me app for iOS. It’s part of a pivot for the company away from its traditional desktop music player application, and towards an app that aims to connect musicians with fans.

Or as the App Store listing for Songbird.me puts it: “With a focus on fans, Songbird personalises music content from the artists you love the most. Share your own photos with artists and other fans, discover new artists, and see the latest updates from your favourites.”

The app is a free download and supports both iPhone and iPad. CEO Eric Wittman explained the pivot in a blog post earlier this month: “Songbird’s primary mission is to help connect fans and artists everywhere around their music interests,” he wrote.
