More than 20,000 people have signed up to use Layar’s Creator tool for interactive print since its launch in June.
Creator is a self-service web application for activating print pages with digital AR content. It launched as part of Layar’s moves away from traditional point-and-view Augmented Reality into interactive print, adding interactivity and digital content into print titles.
Layar said that Creator users include magazine publishers like VIVA, Labelmag, Discovery and Voetbal International, catalogue publishers, book publishers including Lonely Planet, professional journal editors, public service officials such as the Dutch Nature Reserve and manufacturers like Chocstar, who use Creator to make their product packaging interactive. Of the 20,000 users, around half have created multiple Creator campaigns, Layar revealed
CEO Quintin Schevernels said the success of the product not only showed the potential for interactive print but also the added value of an online self-service tool ”We see a lot of people signing up and taking advantage of the possibilities augmented reality has to offer for their business,” he added. “We expect this number to keep growing.”
