Facebook has quietly added photo filters to its iOS app, beating Twitter to the punch.
The news surfaced yesterday that Twitter was set to introduce a new feature allowing users to directly add filters to their photos, bypassing Instagram and friends.
However, it appears that Instagram’s new owner Facebook has got in their first, adding photo filters to version 5.1 of its iOS app, which launched yesterday. The feature essentially extends the filters available on Facebook’s existing Camera app, such as B+W, Neon and Cream, to the main Facebook application.
Curiously, Facebook does not mention the move in the “what’s new” section of its App Store description, instead focusing on the ability to “share multiple photos fast”.
The news comes as Instagram announced the launch of web profiles for its users. So that’s Facebook adding Instagram-esque filters, as Instagram adds Facebook-esque profiles. Lovely.
