US broadcaster Fox is the latest company to join the second-screen TV bandwagon with its own branded iPad app: Fox Now, which was released in the US yesterday.

The app promises to help viewers “tap into the social conversation around your favorite FOX shows while you watch TV, get additional content, and stay connected throughout the week”.

That additional content includes video clips, behind-the-scenes interviews, previews of future episodes and recaps of past ones, and “special compilations”.

Shows covered include Glee, The Simpsons, New Girl and Family Guy.

Meanwhile, the app can be connected to Facebook and Twitter to follow chatter about shows, while also serving users up a “personal feed based on you and your friends’ favorite shows”.

According to its App Store listing, the app’s ability to synchronise with Fox shows being watched on TV will kick off on 12 November. The app itself is free.
