Microsoft has updated its Windows Phone Store following the launch of Windows Phone 8 to include personalised recommendations and new family-friendly features.
In certain markets, the store on Windows Phone 8 handsets now includes a new list called Picks For You, giving personalised app recommendations based on apps you have downloaded in the past, what apps your Facebook friends have downloaded and what apps are typically downloaded together.
Microsoft has also introduced a new feature called Collections to the Store (both web and Windows Phone 8 versions). Each collection is a group of six or so apps selected by Phone Store employees around a particular theme, such as golf, word games and astronomy.
The Store’s new My Family feature is intended to make it easier for parents to decide what apps their children can download; and Microsoft has also created a new Kid’s Corner, that provides children with their own area on the Store.
Finally, the new Wallet feature in Windows Phone 8 gives users a new way to pay for apps. Wallet can be secured with a PIN and keeps credit cards and other payment options in one place and easily accessible during the Store checkout.
