Microsoft Office will be coming to iOS and Android in early 2013, according to a report in The Verge.

The site claims that Office Mobile will debut in the form of free apps that allow Android and iOS users to view Office documents on their mobile devices. The app will require users to have a Microsoft account, which will provide access to basic viewing of Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents. iOS users will then be able to buy an Office 365 subscription within the app to turn on basic editing.

The Verge says that Office Mobile for iOS will arrive in late February or early March next year, with the Android version coming in May.
