Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse has found success as a novel, a film and a play. Now it’s available as an iPad app, courtesy of a partnership between book publisher Egmont, apps firm Touch Press and filmmaker Illuminations.
War Horse is an “enhanced, interactive, digital edition” of the novel, including the full text, but also a historical timeline of documents, maps, photographs and videos of the First World War.
Historians, experts and Morpurgo himself have been interviewed on camera about the book and its setting, and there’s also audiobook reading of War Horse by the author, as well as a live performance with Morpurgo and folk musicians Barry Coope and John Tams.
Oh, and rotational objects, which fans of Touch Press’ work have come to expect. The app also bears the publisher’s signature premium pricing, costing £9.99 on the App Store.
