There’s a thing called Betteridge’s Law of Headlines which states that any headline ending in a question mark should be answered “No.” We sense that may be the case for this story too.
The app in question is DrawChat, which launched earlier this year as a way for people to scribble on top of photos, then send them to friends. Developed by two former Googlers, it’s now up for sale on B2B apps-auction site Apptopia.
They tell TechCrunch that the iPhone app has been downloaded around 5,000 times, and currently has 2,000 daily active users thanks to a featured spot on the British App Store.
The Buy It Now price for this is $200k. To which we can only respond “Good luck with that.”

Would you pay $200k for an app with 2,000 daily active users? http://t.co/1ZH7eLaM via @stuartdredge
Thanks for raising these points, guys.
My name is Gerry Praysman and I actually run Acquisitions at Apptopia. I just wanted to pop in and clarify a couple of things so that it makes a little more sense.
Though Gabor’s Buy It Now price is $200K, he is accepting offers starting at $10K, which he will assess after a week of listing. He currently has an offer for $15K, which he’s tweeted about.
There’s actually quite a bit that goes into valuing an application, and since the second market for apps is a really new space, very few people have a solid handle on it. If you have any questions on that front, the team at Apptopia is always happy to address them.
