The UK will lead Europe in shopping via tablets this festive season, with a 166% year-on-year growth in the activity.

Adobe’s Digital Index 2012 Online Shopping Forecast, which analyses online visits to the company’s retail customers around the world, predicts that shopping via tablets in the UK will account for 8% of total Christmas sales this year, up from just 3% in 2011, a rate of growth that is larger than that of any other European country.

In total 13% of seasonal revenue for UK retailers is expected to come from a smartphone, tablet or e-reader.

Meanwhile, in the US online sales are predicted to reach $2bn on Monday November 26 (Cyber Monday, or the Monday after Black Friday), an 18% growth on 2011.
