With both Google and Nintendo gunning for your big screen, the release last night of a YouTube app for the Wii U that allows users to watch videos on their TV seemed pretty inevitable.

Using the app, Wii U owners can search for videos on the GamePad controller then watch them on their TV screen while reading related details on the handheld device.

The app’s release follows the news yesterday that TV subscription service Hulu Plus is now available on the Wii U, with the partnership offering a range of second-screen features as well as the ability to watch Hulu Plus content on your TV screen.

Meanwhile, the most recent YouTube Android app allowed one-touch connection to Google TV.
