Key to the new apps is a Remote Control feature that notifies users if Rdio is playing on another of their devices, then allows them to “Play Here Instead”, picking up on their mobile where they left off. The revamped apps also feature a “clean and minimal” design that is closer to that of the Rdio desktop and web services; new side-bar navigation and “infinite scroll”, which automatically loads more content as the user scrolls through Heavy Rotation, Top Charts and New Releases.
“Take everything you love about Rdio with you wherever you go on your iOS or Android device,” Rdio says on its blog. “Say hello to the new Rdio for iOS and Rdio for Android apps — they’re faster, sleeker, and easier to use.”
The revamp comes ahead of Spotify events in New York and London on December 6, at which Rdio’s great rival is apparently set to announce significant upgrades.
