Foursquare’s first designer, Mari Sheibley, is leaving the company after four years.

Sheibley, who was responsible for hundreds of badges and icons for Foursquare and worked on the service’s UI for web, Android and iOS, said on her blog that she was ready to “tackle new problems and help other entrepreneurs bring their vision to life”. In an email to TechCrunch she denied the move had anything to do with the launch of Sunrise, a new calendar app created by two other former Foursquare employees, or Foursquare’s apparent problems in raising funding.

“I’ve worked on the same product for a very long time now. I still believe in Foursquare and our vision, I’m just ready for a change,” she wrote in an email. “Foursquare is in good hands.”
