Mobile agency Grapple has made its first acquisition, snapping up fellow app developer Toura for an undisclosed amount.
New York-based Toura has made apps for ABC Television, Reader’s Digest, the British Library and the V&A Museum, developing internal production tools called Mulberry and Mobile App Producer along the way.
The deal builds on Grapple’s existing expansion into the US, while bulking up its development capabilities with those tools. But for both companies, this is all about bulking up ahead of sterner competition in 2013.
Grapple has been going after bigger fish in the client world in 2012, making apps for Procter & Gamble, RBS, Barclays and AEG Europe among other companies.
“Combining Toura’s platform with Grapple’s impressive management and development teams will create a powerful enterprise offering,” promises Toura co-founder Sayoko Knight Teitelbaum.
