Now the app is finally live on Apple’s App Store “just in time for the holidays”, as its listing puts it. The app is free to download but requires a Rhapsody subscription, although newcomers can sign up for a 30-day free trial.
It looks good in the screenshots, with an emphasis on artwork and artist headshots. The app supports high-bitrate streaming, offline cacheing and Apple’s AirPlay feature to play music on capable speakers and TVs.
It’ll provide another comparison to rivals Spotify and Rdio, who both have iPad apps available in the US.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the world Rhapsody has launched what looks like a reskinned version of the app for its Napster subsidiary, also “just in time for Christmas” with the same feature set, and a 14-day free trial.
