Just in time for Christmas, Twitter has updated its main user stat, revealing (in a tweet, naturally) that it now has more than 200m monthly active users.
As TechCrunch notes, that’s 60m more than the 140m MAUs it reported in March this year.
Right now, those 200m users are collectively posting 400m tweets a day, although remember that as Twitter has gone more mainstream, there are a lot more people using it to just read other people’s tweets, rather than tweet themselves.
The interesting question from The Appside’s perspective is how many of those 200m users are accessing Twitter from mobile devices.
In March, when Twitter had 100m monthly active users, it said that 55% of them were logging in at least once a month from their phones. If that ratio remains the same, Twitter may now have 110m active mobile users.
