eBay is to stop advertising inside its mobile apps, with the company claiming “it’s not worth it”.
The retailer experimented with display ads inside its iOS app earlier this year but found that they were distracting and failed to deliver significant revenue. eBay’s president of global marketplaces Devin Wenig has now revealed that the company is to stop running in-app ads next year, according to AllthingsD. “We aren’t happy with the user experience and we don’t need the money,” he said. “It’s not worth it.”
ebay is, however, doing very well on mobile: earlier this month the company eBay saw its biggest ever mobile shopping day in the US.
