Google and LG’s Nexus 4 smartphone may well have continually outstripped demand on Google Play but it has sold only 375,000 units to date, according to new estimates.

The numbers comes from XDA Developers forums (via BGR) and are based on extrapolations from device serial numbers. BGR suggests that the fact that the Nexus 4 has regularly sold out on the Google website since its launch in November may, in fact, have had more to do with inventory issues, rather than outstanding demand.

LG is expected to ramp up production of the Nexus 4 later this month, The Guardian reports.
