Lego has unveiled EV3, the latest update to its Mindstorms robotics system, which is compatible with iOS and Android devices.

The Verge reports that EV3 is built around a Linux-based “intelligent brick” that is compatible with iOS and Android devices out of the box. The brick, The Verge adds, has an ARM9 processor, 16MB of flash memory, 64MB of RAM and an SD expansion slot.

Lego has also created an app that will allow users to command their robots via their smart device. EV3 will be released in autumn 2013 and, no, we can’t wait either.
