The launch of a Facebook Phone may have been rumoured more times than a Smith reunion but TechCrunch claims that we could, finally, this week see a launch of sorts.
Facebook is holding a press event tomorrow and the tech website decided to have a dig around in advance, coming up with two initial leads: it’s a “big deal” and its “mobile”. After going a little further, TechCrunch now, gingerly, claims its information points to a Facebook phone “…. of some sort”. This could be an actual piece of hardware or, for example, a new Facebook OS for mobile.
TechCrunch says that a Facebook OS is more likely to be a variant on Android than an entirely new system built from scratch but admits that this is all speculation, with Facebook playing its hands close to its chest before tomorrow’s launch.
