It will help brands buy ads from Samsung to be shown on its smartphones and tablets, as well as from app developers. It will launch in the second half of this year.

“This is the first time any device manufacturer has entered the ad tech space in this way,” says OpenX CEO Tim Cadogan. “It’s becoming very clear to the principals in the mobile space that advertising is going to be a very important part of the revenue mix.”
